Paul Sookhai
Paul Sookhai a well-known singer is in a class of his own. He hails from Avocat, South Trinidad, West Indies. He is the uncle of the popular Dhanraj Singh. Paul became enthralled with Indian songs after many outings to the movies with his friends and hearing these haunting melodies on the airwaves. Ramdeo Seelochan, the leader of the Gemini Orchestra heard the captivating voice of Paul and promptly invited him to join them. He remained with them fascinating his audiences wherever he performed. Later he moved on to the popular Acme Dil-E-Nadan Orchestra where his popularity soared to even greater heights. He stayed with them for ten years, during which time he toured Guyana and Canada. At present Paul no longer sings with any band, he spends his time singing praises to God at yagnas, satsangs and neighbouring Mandirs. (Copyright Nisha Sharma 2025).
