Rohan Boodoo

The gifted and vibrant singer Rohan Boodoo was born in Clarke Road, Penal, South Trinidad, to Sankar Boodoo and Dolly Boodoo. From an early age, he displayed a deep love for music and singing, drawing inspiration from two legendary playback singers of the Indian film industry, Kumar Sanu and Kishore Kumar, whose timeless melodies greatly influenced his vocal style. Blessed with a voice that carries echoes of these iconic artistes, Rohan began singing at the tender age of eight.

His musical journey was nurtured within the spiritual atmosphere of village Satsangs, where he developed a strong foundation in devotional music. Through these gatherings he cultivated the art of singing Bhajans and Kirtans, while also learning to play musical instruments. These early experiences helped shape not only his musical ability but also his devotion and humility as a performer.

By the age of eighteen, Rohan began performing professionally as a freelance singer with several bands across Trinidad and Tobago. Over the years, he has graced many stages with his warm stage presence and heartfelt performances. One of the highlights of his musical career was sharing the stage with renowned Indian playback singer Nitin Mukesh during his visit to Trinidad. Another cherished moment was the opportunity to personally meet his idol the legendary Kumar Sanu, an experience he holds close to his heart.

In 1996, Rohan married his loving and supportive wife Omatee, and together they were blessed with two talented children, Satya Vaani and Veerendra. Music continues to run strongly within the family, as both children have inherited their father’s passion and have themselves appeared on many stages, proudly continuing the family’s artistic tradition.

Throughout his career, Rohan Boodoo has performed alongside many distinguished artistes from Trinidad and abroad, including Ajnish Rai, Raviraj Nasery, Jaya Kitchlu, Naqi Bilgrami, Harold Boodoo, Ashwini Kupchand, Rana Mohip, Susan Mohip, Deoraj Seunarine, Devindra Pooran, Mungal Patasar, Michael Salickram, Bisram (Tatsil) Moonilal, Bywah Bhola, Polly Sookraj, Capil Gayadeen, Dexter Raghunanan, Vishnu Rampersad, Sookdeo Jagdeo, Baal & Lily John, Karamchand Maharaj, Ramnarine (Tole) Moonilal, among many other admired and cherished performers. This accomplished artiste went on tour to Barbados, Canada and New York where he enjoyed many memorable performances.

Known for his humility, sincerity, and natural stage charm, Rohan possesses the rare ability to connect deeply with his audiences. Whether performing at concerts, Mehfils, Satsangs, or in the sacred atmosphere of the Mandir, his singing brings joy, devotion, and inspiration to all who listen.

A simple and humble soul at heart, Rohan Boodoo continues to share his God-given gift of music, singing Bhajans and Kirtans in praise of the Divine. Through his dedication to both music and spirituality, he has earned the admiration and respect of audiences far and wide, leaving a legacy that will undoubtedly continue through the talents of the next generation.
