In his early childhood days, while other children played carefree games, young Capil Gayadeen found joy in toy instruments and even then, the spark of greatness was unmistakable. What seemed like simple play was, in truth, the awakening of a gifted keyboardist whose natural talent flowed effortlessly from his fingertips. Music was not merely a hobby; it was already becoming his calling. He was nurtured in a home where melody and rhythm were part of daily life. His mother, Mynee Gayadeen, an accomplished singer and skilled Dholak player, lovingly laid the musical foundation that would shape his destiny. His father, Gayadeen Ganpat, alongside his mother, quickly recognized that their son possessed a rare and natural affinity for music. With encouragement, guidance, and quiet pride, they watched his passion grow.

At a tender age, Capil began playing with the Naya Zindagi Orchestra, where he first mastered the accordion an experience that sharpened both his discipline and his ear for harmony. Three years later, he transitioned to the keyboard upon joining the Naya Andaz Orchestra, embracing the instrument that would soon become synonymous with his name. His journey continued with the Amar Sangeet Orchestra, where he performed part-time, steadily refining his craft and building a reputation for excellence. By 1975, armed with years of invaluable experience, unwavering determination, and an unshakeable love for music, Capil took a bold and visionary step, forming his own band, the Gayatones Orchestra. It was more than the creation of a musical group; it was the birth of a legacy. That legacy beautifully continues through his three sons, Rishi Gayadeen, Donny Gayadeen, and Videsh Gayadeen, each of whom pursued formal training in piano, tabla, and guitar, excelling tremendously in their respective disciplines. Through them, the melodies that once began with toy instruments now echo across generations, a testament to passion, perseverance, and a family deeply devoted to the art of music.

This ace musician has accompanied accomplished local and international artistes on many prestigious stages, including Bankim Pathak, Sonu Nigam, Anu Malik, Machel Montano, Sookdeo Jagdeo, Rana Mohip, Susan Mohip, Kailash Kowlessar, Premchand Jagdeo, Ashwini Kupchand and Satrohan Maharaj among many other distinguished performers, delivering exquisite, priceless performances on every occasion.
