The beloved daughter of Dinanath Jangbahadoor and Popatie Dinanath, she was born and raised in Penal, South Trinidad, a community with a rich cultural and devotional heritage. Shakuntala is also a proud and loving daughter of Penal, a community that has long nurtured her deep appreciation for music, spirituality, and cultural expression. Her melodious and haunting voice reflects a lifetime dedicated to the pursuit of musical excellence and spiritual expression.
