From the moment she first sang at the tender age of nine, Seeta Pooran Panday’s voice has captivated hearts and stirred souls. Hailed as the Nightingale of Guyana, she possesses a rare gift, a voice that can convey both profound devotion and the lightness of joy, reminiscent of the legendary Lata Mangeshkar. Yet, Seeta is not just an echo of the greats; she is a force all her own, weaving tradition, emotion, and cultural pride into every note.

Seeta’s journey is one of dedication, resilience, and love for her art. Her music has taken her across continents, North and South America, England, Holland, where she has shared stages with audiences eager to experience her remarkable talent. Known for her ability to touch hearts, she is a beloved presence in religious and cultural circles, always ready to lend her voice to causes and communities she holds dear.

Her discography reads like a map of her life and her passions. With beloved hits such as “O Mere Sona” (JTS Productions) and “Jhoomay Jhoomay” (Anoop Dhanpat Productions), alongside contributions to Diwali Volumes 1 and 2 under Mohabir Records, Seeta has given her fans a treasure trove of music. Albums like Satyam Shivam, Mere Sanam, El Dorado, New York Mix, and Deepak Anand reveal the breadth of her versatility, from heartfelt devotionals to vibrant celebration of life. Her self-produced work Prem Geet, created with her brother Lakhram Pooran, stands as a testament to her artistic independence and familial bonds. Yet it is in her most personal work that Seeta’s heart truly shines. Shabdanjali Vol.1: Meera aur Pooja, dedicated to her daughters Meera and Kajal (Pooja), captures her love, heritage, and devotion in its purest form. Inspired by the story of Meerabhai, a tale she treasured in her own childhood, this album reflects a lifelong journey of faith, culture, and maternal inspiration.

This highly talented artiste has graced many a stage with a host of celebrated performers from the Caribbean and the wider region together with Bhim Singh, Karamchand Maharaj, Ramdeo Seelochan, Devindra Pooran, Harold Boodoo, Lalchand “Rafi” Singh, Narindra Ramdular, Polly Sookraj, Ramesh Maraj, Mohan Nandu, Vijay Ramkumar, Harry Panday, Ganga Persaud, Bhaskar Sharma and many other distinguished artistes. Seeta Pooran Panday is more than a singer; she is a custodian of culture, and a living testament to the power of music to unite, inspire, and transcend boundaries. Her beauty, charm, and stage presence are remarkable, but it is her extraordinary voice, rich, emotive, and unforgettable, that leaves an indelible mark on everyone who listens. In every performance, she reminds us why she is one of the most treasured voices of her generation, a true nightingale whose song will endure for decades to come.

Sadly on Feb. 21st 2021 we said farewell to this distinguished artiste. We were indeed blessed to have such a brilliant stage performer in our midst and although she is no longer with us her melody still lives on.
