Premchand Jagdeo also known as Premchan Jagdeo was born on June 2, 1952, in Gandhi Village, Debe to Popo (Silochna) and Jagdeo. Premchan started singing at the Radha Krishna Mandir at Gandhi Village captivating his audiences from a very young age. He then moved on to singing more film songs with the Dil Ki Awaz Band from Clarke Road, Penal. He also sang with other Orchestras such as BWIA and Gayatones. Prem a highly versatile singer entered many singing competitions and won on numerous occasions. He was a finalist on the popular Mastana Bahar Programme on a few occasions where he won second prize on more than one occasion in that competition. Premchan is well-known for his renditions of these 4 great playback singers Manna Dey, Mahendra Kapoor, Mohd. Rafi and Hemant Kumar. He has toured extensively to Canada, USA and Europe. The pinnacles of his career were his performances at Royal Albert Hall, the Commonwealth Institute in London and Roy Thompson Hall in Canada. Prem is a foundation member and still a very active member of the Village Temple and Ramayan Group and also appears on many stages to perform for a number of charitable organisations. To date he continues to entertain us with his ever powerful, enchanting voice.
