Bhaskaranand Sharma was called Bhaskar when he came to Canada in 1976. He was one of the first Guyanese to get an ICCR Vocal Music Scholarship by the Government of India to study at the Bhartiya Kala Kendra. He wrote The Sangeet Alankar Indian Music exams in 1975 in Delhi, India. Bhaskar studied under the esteem guidance of Pandit Vasu Desh Pandey and Prof. B.N. Chatterjee, Indian Music Professors of Vocal music, History of Indian music, and comparative Indian Music, that is North Indian and Carnatic styles. Bhaskar has many firsts to his credit. The first to have taught Indian music at The Board of Education in Toronto, Canada in 1978. Bhaskar Sharma is the first Person of Indian Origin to have produced original music based on the Raga system for (A) the first Ghazal Album in Canada, FROM BHASKAR WITH LOVE. (B) The first Vedic Album, ATMA SHANTI. (C) The Phagwa album, SING ALONG BHASKAR. Presently, he teaches music to practising musicians in Canada. He is also the publisher of Equality News.
