
Pandit Hardath Maharaj
The respected Pandit Hardath Maharaj was born on July 19th, 1931 to Sreeram Maharaj and Rajpat Maharaj, in Cumoto, Trinidad. He had two other brothers and five sisters. Following in the footsteps of his maternal and paternal grandparents, Panditji started his journey as a Pandit at a very tender age. He has travelled throughout Trinidad and Tobago conducting Yagnas and Pujas for his many devoted chelas over the years. He was very fortunate throughout his lifetime to have toured countries such as USA, Canada, United Kingdom and many more, performing yagnas and pujas for his many chelas on a regular basis. He had many devoted chelas across the many Continents. He was very well-loved by one and all. His brother the late Pandit Krishna Maharaj was the Dharmacharya of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha of Trinidad and Tobago. During his lifetime he was awarded the Chaconia Gold Medal in 2011 for his dedicated national service. Pt. Hardath was privileged to have met during his lifetime many renowned singers coming out of India, touring the West Indies, such as Mukesh, Mohd. Rafi, Manna Dey, Talat Mahmood, Geeta Dutt, Hari Om Sharan and Anup Jalota just to name a few. He was always ever willing to share his vast knowledge and great advice to his many followers. His wife was the ever beautiful Maharani Maharaj (now deceased). He was the father of four children, Pradeep, Bimal, Aasha and Lalita. Pandit Bimal who now resides in Florida is following in his father’s footsteps, steeped in Dharma. Sadly Pandit Hardath Maharaj departed this earthly body on January 21st, 2013, blessed are the devotees who came in contact with this great soul during his lifetime.
