Chandrautee Chunee Lall

The Incredidibly Melodious and Unforgettable Chandrautee Chunee Lall of Cap-de-Ville, Point Fortin, Trinidad, started singing when she was just 6yrs old. She represented her school, the Cap-de-Ville Government, in the Aunty Kay competition on many occasions placing first every time. She entered the National Independence Day Competition at the age of 9 where she placed 3rd. She has performed alongside performers from the Republic of China, in Point Fortin, when they visited T&T. She entered the popular Mastana Bahar Competition, where she placed 3rd. Chandrautee entered the National Ladies Indian Singing Competition, recordings of which were sent to India to be judged by the Great Lata Mangeshkar, she emerged the winner of that competition amongst many great talented singers of Trinidad and Tobago. The voice of Chandrautee Chunee Lall encompassed a tremendous range which is unparalleled. She became a household name, performing on Radio and Television as well as many stages across Trinidad and Tobago, including Naparima Bowl, Queen’s Hall, and Divali Nagar. She also performed in Canada. Her brothers Ramlall, Vinod and Vishnu were her accompanying musicians at all her recordings and performances. Chandrautee was recognised for her sterling contribution to Indian Art and Culture by the Mere Desh Committee, the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation and she received a lifetime achievement award from 103.FM and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Chandrautee Chunee Lall is a name that still resonates in the minds of music lovers in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.
