The son of a most popular musician of Trinidad and Tobago, Narie Mahabir was born with music flowing through his veins. He started playing music at the very early age of 7, it came natural to him. Narie made his first tour to Jamaica when he was just 8 years old. For over 25 years he played with one of the most popular bands coming out of Trinidad and Tobago, laying the foundation for a very long and successful musical career. He spent 5 years learning to read and write music with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Band. Narie can play a wide array of instruments including all the wind instruments, Saxophone, Flutes, Clarinet, Trombone, Piccolo, Conventional Drums, Congos, Guitar, Keyboards, Tabla etc. After migrating to Canada, he went to the Royal Conservatory of Music where he graduated with Honours. For a number of years he was also a part of the Governor General Horse Guards Band in Toronto. With years of musical training he decided to form his own band in Canada, the National Orchestra of Canada, Narie being at the helm. Over the years he has accompanied some top Indian playback singers, Mahendra Kapoor, Jagjit and Chitra Singh, Hari Om Sharan, C.H. Atma, and Bankim Pathak thus far. (Copyright Hindisongstt 2023).
