DIVALI MESSAGE 2

Divali was at first a festival of the Vaishas, but has now become a festival for all. It is today celebrated very elaborately throughout the world.

Divali started many thousands of years ago at the end of harvesting time. That was before winter started, all crops were gathered by the farmers so that the provision of food and clothing for the coming year was secured. On the particular night, the joy of the farmers was seen by the illumination of deeyas and through celebrations, songs and dances.

As time elapsed the cause of Divali was lost in antiquity. The Puranas gave many reasons for Divali, though these reasons are true they were only territorial in nature.

May the blessings of Divali be upon all.
