One of the greatest Mandolin players and musicians coming out of Trinidad and Tobago, Amarnath Patasar was born in La Fortune, San Fernando and has been making beautiful music from a very early age, emanating from a lineage of great musicians. Amarnath is also the younger brother of the renowned sitar player Mangal Patasar. While in College he played for the Naya Andaz Indian Orchestra of Cedar Hill, Princess Town. He placed 2nd as a contestant in the Grand Final of the Popular Mastana Bahar Contest. He has accompanied many artistes with the mandolin on the Classical Top 10 recordings in Trinidad. He played alongside many local artistes as well. In 1976, he composed and directed the music for a recording with Pandit Chidanand Sharma from Guyana. He was also the leader of the popular Nai Jawan Indian Orchestra from Debe, South Trinidad. He has had many successful tours to Guyana, Jamaica, Canada and USA. Over the years Amarnath has graced the stage accompanying many International Artiste, Hari Om Sharan, Narendra Chanchal and Kuldip Deepak to name but a few. Amaranth is presently residing in Canada accompanying Manisha, his wife a well known singer from India, along with numerous other artistes on the harmonium, mandolin and guitar. This extraordinary musician continues to deliver a resounding performance each and every time. If you wish to begin your very own musical journey, Amarnath Patasar currently teaches at various venues in the Greater Toronto Area, light vocal, harmonium and mandolin. Manisha and Amarnath perform regularly at various functions and events.
